NSW: New weapons law takes effect tomorrow

SYDNEY, Feb 7 AAP - A number of dangerous weapons including missile launchers and stun
grenades would be banned in New South Wales from tomorrow, Police Minister Paul Whelan said
today.

Amendments passed by parliament late last year will come into effect tomorrow, prohibiting
ownership of extendable batons, missile launchers, stun grenades and ballistic knives, which
can shoot spring-loaded blades at targets.

"We are now one step further in making Sydney's streets a lot safer," Mr Whelan told
reporters in Sydney.
