A's LHP Outman leaves game in second inning

Oakland A's rookie pitcher Josh Outman left Friday night's game against the San Diego Padres in the second inning with an undisclosed injury.

Outman allowed a leadoff homer to Chase Headley in the second inning and was then visited on the mound by manager Bob Geren and head trainer Steve Sayles. After about a short discussion, Outman remained in the game.

He allowed Eliezer Alfonzo's one-out single and pitcher Wade LeBlanc sacrificed him to second. Geren and Sayles then revisited the mound and Outman was removed from the game.

He was replaced by Edgar Gonzalez.
